A newspaper clipping is affixed to the front of the photograph and states, "Sandy Koufax, Los Angeles Dodgers southpaw, working on the mound at Philadelphia's Connie Mack Stadium to beat the Phillies 5-2 for his sixteenth win of the season. Sandy gave up his first run in the 7th inning to end his streak of 34 runless inning. Koufax struck out seven to boost his league leading strikeout to 170. He has three losses for the season." Based on the newspaper clipping these photographs were taken on July 16, 1963 when the Dodgers beat the Phillies 5-2 in game one of the double header, but loss the second game 2-10.
