DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Los Angeles Dodgers' pitcher, Sandy Koufax, jumping high on the pitcher's mound in an attempt to catch a ball during a game on April 26, 1965 where the Dodgers beat lost to the Philadelphia Phillies 3-4. Koufax has his right arm stretched out but is too late as the baseball is visible behind him. He is dressed in the Los Angeles Dodgers home uniform. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the front of the photograph and states, "Dodger pitcher Sandy Koufax leaps high in the air in a vain attempt to get Philadelphia Phils Alex Johnson's drive in the third inning here 4/26, but was backed up by second baseman Jim Lefebvre who threw him out. Koufax was tagged for 3 runs in the first inning." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on April 26, 1965.
