In the photograph on the right, Koufax is stretching his left arm. There are two captions on the reverse (not shown) that read, "Back in action. Philadelphia, PA: Cool weather didn't stop Los Angeles star pitcher Sandy Koufax as he warms up his throwing arm (left) prior to the game with the Phillies April 18th. After pitching several innings, Sandy seemed to have a little trouble with his precious left arm (right) but he finished the full nine innings and brought the Dodgers to a 6-2 victory of the Phillies. 4/18/65," and, "Koufax Struggles Past Phils. A struggling Sandy Koufax, showing definite signs of his arm ailment, pitched the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 6-2 victory over Philadelphia yesterday. The 29-year-old Koufax, suffering from traumatic arthritis in his pitching arm, appeared far from the fast ball ace who won 44 games for the Dodgers in the last two seasons. He allowed only five hits, but his control wasn't as sharp, and he appeared to be taking something off his fastball." According to the caption, these photographs were taken on April 18, 1965.
