DescriptionA black-and-white half-length photograph of Tris Speaker in uniform. Speaker, shown from the waist up, looks forward, establishing eye contact with the camera. Several facial features and portions of Speaker's clothing have been modified to appear more legible upon publication. The white paint visible on the surface of the image is not original and exists as a further modification made for publication. Pasted on the reverse (not shown) is a newspaper clipping of this published image. Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in blue ink, are the following dates, "APR 10 1920," "FEB 5 1922," AUG 12 1923," and "AUG 12 1923," each with the phrase, "LAST TIME USED." Stamped as well on the reverse (not shown) in black and pink ink, respectively, are the phrases, "LAST TIME USED FEB 2 1951 1st EDITION," and "LAST TIME USED DEC 13 1951 3rd EDITION."
