DescriptionA black-and-white 3/4 length photograph of Jimmie Foxx standing, posed for the photograph, holding a double barrel rifle. Foxx, facing the camera, wears pinstripe dress pants, dress shirt and tie, fedora, and leather letterman-style jacket with the Philadelphia Athletics white elephant logo. Looking to his left, Foxx directs his gaze to a point in the distance and to the right of the camera. Holding the gun waist height, Foxx places his left hand on the barrel and his right hand on the stock, resting the gun against his stomach. Visible in the background of the photograph is a picnic table. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), typed in purple ink, is a caption that reads, "BALL PLAYERS COMPETE IN TRAP SHOOT JIMMY FOXX, SLUGGING FIRST SACKER OF THE PHILADELPHIA ATHLETICS, IS THE CHAMPION HOME RUN HITTER OF HIS LEAGUE, AND IS SEEN HERE AS HE PROVED HE COULD HIT CLAY BIRDS WITH THE SAME SKILL DURING THE TRAP SHOOT IN WHICH BALL PLAYERS COMPETED AT HOLMESBURG, PA., JAM, 28TH. 1/28/33." Stamped on the reverse (not shown), in blue ink, is the phrase, "RECEIVED JAN 30 1933."
