He grips with both hands the metal support of the batting cage. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Sighting High West Palm Beach, Fla.: Connie Mack, ageless manager of the Philadelphia Athletics, watches as his boys practice at spring training camp, West Palm Beach.3/3/49" Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on March 3, 1949.
