DescriptionA black-and-white posed portrait photograph of Tris Speaker. Speaker, shown from the waist up, wears a three piece pinstripe suit and tie. Facing the camera, smiling, Speaker turns his head slightly to his left, directing his gaze to a point to the right and above the camera. Portions of the original background of the photograph have been modified for publication. Pasted on the reverse (not shown), a caption, typed in black ink, reads, "REPORTED MANAGER OF BROOKLYN BASEBALL CLUB Tris Speaker, who, it has been learned from reliable sources, will soon be appointed manager of the Brooklyn Club of the National League with Wilbert Robinson, president-manager confining his activities to execu-tive duties. Speaker, former manager of the Cleveland American League Club, managed Newark of the Interna-tional League in 1929. Robinson for three years has been acting in the dual capacity of President and manager of the Brooklyn Robins, jat-1/3/30 (fs-b O) ARML."
