DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Nellie Fox sliding into home plate and being tagged out by catcher Clint Courtney. Dirt is kicking up around Fox's feet. Courtney's back is to the photographer, the number 14 is visible on the back of his jersey, and his catcher's hat is on the ground just a few feet away from him and Fox. Fox is dressed in a Chicago White Sox home uniform and Courtney is dressed in the Washington Senators road uniform. The caption on the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "White Sox second baseman Nellie Fox is out at plate trying to score on Harry Simpson's grounder to second in fourth inning of game at Chicago yesterday. Senators catcher Clint Courtney puts ball on him after throw from Ken Aspromonte." Based on Fox and Courtney's uniforms, a date stamp on the reverse (also not shown), and their time with their respective teams, this photograph was taken in approximately 1959.
