DescriptionA black-and-white, head and shoulders photograph of Nellie Fox. Fox is captured with a large grin and a wad of chewing tobacco in his left cheek. He is holding a baseball bat over his left shoulder. He is dressed in a Chicago White Sox home uniform. The caption on the front of the photograph (not shown) states, "Nellie Fox, Chicago White Sox second baseman whose tobacco chaw is almost as big as the baseball, conceded today that his hits are 'dropping in pretty good.' The perky infielder, after a poor 1961 season and slow start this year, has spanked 12 hits in his last 25 trips before tonight's game with the Minnesota Twins. Fox, 34, is in his 13th season with the White Sox." Based on the caption, this photograph was taken in 1962.
