DescriptionA black-and-white, head and shoulder, photograph of Sandy Koufax captured smiling upon his arrival back to Los Angeles on October 4, 1963. Koufax is looking over his right shoulder. Several unidentified baseball fans are visible in the background waiting to welcome Koufax and his Los Angeles Dodgers teammates. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Sandy Koufax is all smiles as Dodgers arrive in LA." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the side on the front of the photograph and states, "Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Sandy Koufax smiles on the arrival of the Dodgers in Los Angeles after winning the 2nd game of the World Series against the New York Yankees in New York 10/3. The third game of the Series will be held at Dodger Stadium 10/5. Over 3000 fans were on hand to greet the National League Champions on their return to Los Angeles." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on October 4, 1963. The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the 1963 World Series in four games.
