A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack Dies Philadelphia: - Connie Mack, baseball's grandest old man and for generations the greatest name in the game, died Feb. 8. He was 93--He appears in this photo at his 93rd birthday celebration last December. Death came to 'Mr. Baseball' at the home of Mrs. Frank Cavanaugh in Philadelphia, 15 months after a 71-year-old career as player, manager and team president was climaxed by the sale of his beloved Philadelphia Athletics to Kansas City. 2/8/56"
