The caption reads "Babe Ruth, star of the New York Yankees and one of the baseball's greatest figures, as he signed his 1934 contract today with Col. Jacob Ruppert owner of the Yankees looking on. The Babe's 1934 contract calls for $35,000 for the season in comparison with the $52,000 he received for 1933 and his peak of $80,000 in 1930 and 1931. However, in spite of this Mr. Ruth remains the highest XXXXXX paid player in baseball."
