All three gentlemen are dressed in suits. Sisler is holding a pen in his right hand and has his head propped up on his left hand. There is a display case filled with trophies in the background. A newspaper caption affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) states, "George Sisler (center), one-time star first-baseman of the St. Louis Browns, who was recently elected to Baseball's Hall of Fame, is shown Jan. 28 in St. Louis as he signed a five-year contract to serve as high commissioner of the National semi-pro baseball congress. With him are Ray Dumont (left), president of the congress, and Mickey O'Connell, secretary. 1-30-39" Based on the caption this photograph was taken on January 28, 1939.
