DescriptionBlack painted bat, 31.5 ounces, with a white manufacturer logo in the center of the barrel and and Japanese characters above "Goldstage / Birch" in white lettering at the end of the barrel. Barrel end tip is cupped. Knob end has "OS17 / M-S / 022421" inscribed in gold lettering.

Bio/Historical NoteBat used by Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels on April 4, 2021, when he hit the first pitch he saw in the game for a home run. Ohtani served as the No. 2 hitter in the Angels lineup in this contest, while also serving as the team’s starting pitcher in his first appearance of the season on the mound. He became the first starting pitcher to purposefully bat for himself in an American League game since Ken Brett did it in 1976. (On May 17, 2009, the Rays’ Andy Sonnanstine was forced to bat due to a lineup card mistake by current Angels manager, Joe Maddon.) Ohtani became the first starting pitcher to bat second in a game in which he did not play any other positions since 1903.
