DescriptionA black-and-white full-length action photograph of Brooks Robinson fielding the ball while Jim Piersall slides into 3rd base. Robinson, farthest from the camera, in profile, wears a Baltimore Orioles road uniform. Robinson stands with feet together and knees bent, only the toes of his cleats touch the ground. Looking forward, Robinson holds both hands in front of his face. In the photograph the ball can be seen about to enter the gloved left hand of Robinson. Piersall, closest to camera, wearing a Cleveland Indians home uniform, slides on his right hip to 3rd. With both arms outstretched on either side, Piersall's feet can be seen suspended in the air above the base. A caption to the right of the photograph (not shown), typed in black ink, reads, "SMPO61503-6/15-CLEVELAND, O.: Jim Piersall slides into 3rd base with a triple just as the ball enters the glove of Baltimore 3rd baseman Brooks Robinson.Action come in the 1st inning of 1st game of Orioles-Indians twi-night double-header here 6/15.Indians won the opener, 10-2,to remain in first place in the American League."
