St. Louis Browns pennant and bat

DescriptionMiniature dark brown wooden bat with "St. Louis Browns" emblazoned on the barrel in small gold lettering and a felt pennant tied to the barrel. There is a hole in the barrel end. The pennant is red felt with gold trim and ties. On the front of the pennant is a small Brownie with pointed ears in a batting position to the left of "St. Louis Browns," both stamped onto the pennant.

Bio/Historical NoteNew St. Louis Browns owner Bill Veeck debuted Louie the Elf as the club mascot in 1952. However, the hard-pressed franchise needed more luck than the sprightly leprechaun could provide. Baltimore investors soon bought out Veeck and took the team east in 1954.
