DescriptionRectangular wooden case with metal hinges on the back side edge and a lid that opens upwards. There is a metal placard on the top of the lid, "Christening Bottle / S.S. John J. McGraw / Launched September 22, 1943 / Mrs. John J. McGraw Sponsor." Front face panel has a circular hole in the center.

Bio/Historical NoteWooden case for the christening bottle used for the S.S. John J. McGraw, a Liberty ship launched on September 22, 1943. The bottle was broken when the ship was christened by Mrs. John McGraw.
