DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Charlie Gehringer captured as he proceeds to enter the first vehicle he ever purchased. Gehringer, who is dressed in a suit, has a small smirk as he holds the car door open. An unidentified gentleman is visible in the doorway of a storefront behind Gehringer's automobile. The name of the store is "Richards-Oakland Co." The caption written on the back of the photograph (not shown) by Gehringer himself states, "John My first car, a good will Oakland bought from G.A. Richards, original owner of W. J. R. C.G. P.S. My wife says to return photo. C.G." Another caption (not shown) on the back of the photograph states, "return to Charlie Gehringer." Based on when Gehringer was married, this photograph was taken after 1949.
