DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Connie Mack captured as he looks down at an autographed baseball that he holds in his left hand. Mack places his right arm on the desk in front of him, he has his head in his right hand. On top of the desk is a framed poster that features a photograph of Mack standing at the edge of the dugout and it states, "Official Souvenir Program 1931 World Series 1931 Athletics." A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Connie Mack, Grand Old Man of Baseball Is 77. Connie Mack, veteran member of baseball's old guard, having completely recovered from his illness that struck him down in Boston last spring, celebrates his 77th birthday at his Philadelphia home. Connie is pictured looking over the list of his great team years.12-21-39." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on December 21, 1939.
