Ty Cobb glove

DescriptionLeather left-handed fielder's glove with four finger stalls and a thumb stall connected by a piece of leather as webbing. Back side of the glove has an opening at the base of the finger stalls. There is a wrist strap fastened with a metal button. There is a remnant of a red fabric manufacturer label on the wrist strap.
Bio/Historical NoteLeather fielder's glove used by Ty Cobb in 1912 while playing for the Detroit Tigers. Tyrus Raymond "Ty" Cobb played for the Detroit Tigers (1905-1926) and the Philadelphia Athletics (1927-1928). He also served as the manager of the Tigers from 1921-1926. He was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1936 as one of the "First Five" members.
