DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Charlie Gehringer, right, and Ray Forsyth captured as they both look down examining Gehringer's golf club. Gehringer and Forsyth have straight faces. Both gentlemen are dressed in casual golf clothes and are wearing a glove on their left hands. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph and states, "Charley Gehringer (right) checks a putter with his business partner, Ray Forsyth, on golf course in Detroit July 28. The Detroit Tigers announced July 28 the resignation of William (Billy) Evans as general manager and vice president and named Gehringer, former star second baseman for the Tigers and a member of baseball's Hall of Fame, to succeed him." Based on the newspaper clipping this photograph was taken on July 30, 1951.
