Mel Ott photograph
Dateapproximately 1948
DescriptionA black-and-white photograph of Mel Ott captured in profile kneeling on the sideline of a baseball field. He has a serious expression on his face. Ott has his left arm propped up on his left knee. Two baseball bats are angled and resting against his left leg. He is dressed in a New York Giants road uniform. An unidentified stadium is in the background. A newspaper clipping is affixed to the back of the photograph (not shown) and states, "Mel Ott, who resigned as pilot of the Giants, goes to a job in the Giants' farm outfit under Carl Hubbell." Based on Ott's uniform, his time with the Giants, and a stamp on the reverse (also not shown), this photograph was taken in approximately 1948.
