The caption (not shown) reads "More than 100, 000 people saw a simultaneous world premiere, July 15, of Samuel Goldwyn's 'The Pride of the Yankees', at 41 RKO Theatres in the Greater New York area. Largest crowd gathered at the Astor theatre in Times Square, where, except for the absence of klieg lights because of dim-out regulations, the event had all the glamour of premieres of the past. Here, is the famous Sultan of Swat, Babe Ruth and his wife as they attended the opening."
