Chuck Morgan microphone

Date2020
DescriptionCylindrical light green plastic and metal microphone with three tiers. There is a narrow circular base, meant to be plugged into a power source, with three metal prongs inside. The middle tier is larger, with manufacturer information running horizontally along the lower portion, beneath 16 rectangular horizontal panels with inset wire mesh. The manufacturer lettering reads "ElectroVoice RE20 / Electro-Voice / Burnsville, MN / Dynamic Cardioid." There is a small white switch on one side of the lower portion. The top tier is the largest tier, with eight rectangular horizontal panels with inset wire mesh around the sides and wire mesh covering the top.
Bio/Historical NoteElectroVoice RE20 microphone used by Chuck Morgan, Executive Vice President, Ballpark Entertainment & Production and long-time Public Address announcer for the Texas Rangers, during the inaugural 2020 season at Globe Life Field. Morgan’s 2020 duties included working all 60 Rangers games during the regular season and all 2020 Postseason games hosted at Globe Life Field, including all six games of the first neutral-site World Series. On September 26, 2020, Morgan called his 3,000th consecutive regular season game from the PA booth over 38 years on the job – 37 of which came with the Rangers spanning three ballparks. In 2002, Morgan worked as the voice of the Royals. This appears to be the longest active streak in baseball at the time, with the potential that Cubs announcer Pat Pieper worked every home game from 1924-1974. Morgan’s career includes stints as an emcee at country music stations and appearances on television show Hee-Haw.
