H.L. Cooke National Association Day ribbon

DescriptionRed, white and blue vertical striped ribbon with "National / Association / Day / July 9th / 1939" in gold lettering on the front and a slightly inverted V-shaped bottom edge. The top of the ribbon has been folded over to create an opening, through which is a thin rod which is held in place with a metal hook on the back side of a gold-colored metal piece which imitates a frame. "H.L. Cooke" is handwritten on a piece of white paper which has been slipped into the metal frame.

Bio/Historical NoteIt is not certain what exactly this ribbon commemorates, but in 1939 Cooperstown held a series of events celebrating the Baseball Centennial. July 9, 1939 was National Association Day and there was an All-Star Game held at Doubleday Field.
